kcalUse this savory bone broth in other recipes or sip it when you get a cold. The apple cider vinegar is a must; it helps extract the minerals and nutrients from the bones. If you can find it, try using pink Himalayan salt instead of sea salt. Pink Himalayan salt includes minerals like sulfate, magnesium, calcium, and potassium. Freeze in 1-cup containers until needed.
Ingredients
3 celery stalks, including leaves
10 cups water
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
2 bay leaves
1 tbsp onion powder
1 tbsp sea salt
Carcass from Slow Cooker Lemon-Rosemary Chicken, lemons discarded, garlic cloves reserved
Directions
- Combine the garlic cloves, celery, water, vinegar, bay leaves, onion powder, and salt in the slow cooker. Add the chicken carcass, cover, and cook for at least 12 hours on low or, preferably, up to 24 hours.
- Skim off any excess fat from the top of the broth. Pour the broth through several layers of cheesecloth or a fine-mesh strainer.
